Minnesota Power identified Proposed Route Alternatives to submit to the Minnesota Public Utilities Commission/Department of Commerce following an extensive routing process. These Proposed Route Alternatives were submitted in a Route Permit Application in April 2014. The Study Area, Corridors, Route Alternatives, and Proposed Route Alternatives illustrating the progression of the routing process can be found in a previous version of the project map below.
Minnesota Power used State routing guidelines, industry best-practice routing criteria, engineering and environmental considerations, along with stakeholder and landowner feedback to identify the Proposed Route Alternatives. Through the state and federal permitting process, a Final Route will be decided.
